You have been invited to a household in Madmakker

Somebody wants to share their meal plan and shopping list with you. If you are seeing this page instead of the app, there are two reasons: either you do not have Madmakker on your phone yet, or you opened the link on a computer.

The invitation link itself is the Danish address madmakker.nixio.dk/tilslut#CODE. This page is the English explanation of what happens next; the app it opens is in Danish.

How to join

  1. Install Madmakker on your Android phone. The app is free, needs no account and has no ads.
  2. Open the invitation link again on the phone. The app then opens itself with the code already filled in, and all you do is tap »Tilslut«, meaning »join«.
  3. If that does not work, the code is also written out in plain text in the message you received. Open Indstillinger → Del madplan og indkøbsliste — settings, then share meal plan and shopping list — in the app, and type it in.

Madmakker exists only for Android. If you have an iPhone, you unfortunately cannot be part of the household. See the other Danish meal planning apps.

What you will be sharing

You both get the same weekly plan and the same shopping list on your own phones, including whatever gets ticked off while one of you is standing in the shop. There is no account and no password. The household is only the code the two of you have.

Not shared: your budget, dietary preferences, excluded meals, points and achievements. Those are personal and stay on each phone.

One thing worth knowing in advance: if the household already has a meal plan, the app asks whether you want to take it over. If you say yes, your own week is replaced, but the items you added to the shopping list yourself come across with you. The app does none of this without asking first.

Treat the code like a key

Whoever has the household code can see and change the household's meal plan and shopping list. There is nothing personal in it — no name, no email address, no phone number — but share it only with the people you actually want to share food with.

The code sits after the # in the link, and that part of an address is never sent to any server. It stays on your own phone. To stop sharing, either of you can tap »Stop deling« in the app's settings.
