What's new in Madmakker
The current release is Madmakker 1.2, published on Google Play on 30 August 2026. This page is updated every time a new version arrives, so you can see what changed and when.
1.2 — 30 August 2026
A release about sharing. The household code can now be sent as a link, the weekly plan and the shopping list can be sent as plain text, and the offer of help arrives at a smarter moment than before.
- The household code can be sent as a link. The person you live with taps it, and the app opens with the code already filled in
- The weekly plan and the shopping list can be shared as text, in a text message for instance. The list includes only what is still left to buy
- The offer of help when dinner did not happen now comes early if the meal takes a long time, and later if it is quick. It does not come on leftover days, and not if you have been in the app yourself
1.1 — 29 August 2026
A release that added no buttons but rewrote the food. Every recipe was rewritten so it reads like a meal rather than a list of ingredients, and the steps now say when something is done, not merely how long to wait.
- 60 meals that were called something along the lines of »chicken with carrots and cream« got their real names back: kyllingefrikassé, skipperlabskovs, boller i karry, brunede kartofler
- Every meal has its own description
- The timings were corrected where they were wrong — carrots now get the time they need
- Animal-based food no longer fills the weekly plan unless you have chosen that diet
- Twelve meals were removed and five new ones added. The app now has 212 recipes
1.0 — 28 August 2026
The first public release. Madmakker became freely available on Google Play with the whole app free: no subscriptions, no in-app purchases and no ads.
Included in 1.0:
- A weekly plan for lunch and dinner, built from the household and a weekly budget, with leftovers taken into account
- A shopping list gathered from the week's meals, sorted by your own shop order
- 219 Danish recipes, with a focus mode and a timer on every step
- »Orker ikke« — »can't face it« — with one suggestion at a time, and bought food as a valid choice
- Household sharing of the plan and the list between two phones through a short code, without accounts
- Diets (everything, vegetarian, vegan, mostly animal-based) and exclusion of gluten, lactose and fish
- Reminders about defrosting and about getting started, at times you set yourself
- A widget showing today's dinner
- Price estimates adjusted by the food consumer price index from Statistics Denmark
- 96 achievements and a points layer that can be switched off entirely
- A light and a dark theme, and a setting that reduces motion
Before 1.0
Madmakker was tested through the summer of 2026 by a group of testers who wrote back through the feedback button in the app. Much of what is described above was fixed because of what they wrote. The feedback button is still there for the same reason.
The language of the app
Madmakker's interface and its 212 recipes are in Danish in every release so far, including 1.2. An English version is planned. When it arrives, it will be listed on this page like any other change.
How updates reach you
Through Google Play like every other app, usually on their own. Your weekly plan, your shopping list and your settings survive an update — the data is carried across, and that is tested before a version is released.
The numbers mean what you would expect: 1.0.x is fixes, 1.x is something new. If you have a wish for what should go into the next one, write in — the wishes largely decide the order.
