Roast beef on rye bread with remoulade and beetroot

Thin slices of yesterday's meat on rye bread, with remoulade and pickled beetroot on top.

8 minutes, and nothing needs turning on. Written for 2 servings.

Ingredients

For 2 servings.

  • 100 g beef steak
  • 4 slices rye bread
  • 3 tbsp remoulade
  • 100 g beetroot
  • 20 g butter
  • 1 tsp pepper

How to make it

  1. Cut the cold meat into paper-thin slices and the beetroot into dice.
  2. Butter the rye bread.
  3. Lay the meat on in loose folds, so the sandwich does not go flat.
  4. Dot on the remoulade, spread the beetroot over and scatter pepper on top.

Why it is easy

  • Under half an hour from standing in the kitchen
  • No cooking: no hob, no oven
  • Built on leftovers from the day before
  • Smørrebrød — an open sandwich, also good in a lunchbox

Calculated from the ingredients using figures from Frida (the National Food Institute at the Technical University of Denmark), by the same code the app uses. The calories are rounded to the nearest ten, because home cooking lands within about ±30 % — a number with more digits would promise a precision it does not have. No judgement is attached to these figures, and none is coming.
